Wednesday Night Fever is ABC1’s new, late night, weekly comedy series from the makers of controversial hit, At Home with Julia. (If you have missed the first few episodes you can stream it on iView.)
It’s hosted by rising comedian and first-time frontman, Sammy J, and features Dave and his tasteful glam metal outfit Boner Contention as the house band.
In addition to being the most rock and roll frontman in a TV show house band, Dave is a regular cast member along side some of Australia’s best comedy performers and impersonators.
Airing over seven weeks, Wednesday Night Fever will feature an array of topical impersonators, satirical characters, musical comedy and special guests in front of a live studio audience.
If you want to be part of the studio audience for the recording of Wednesday Night Fever on Tuesday nights from July 2 onwards, click here.
In between recording his debut live comedy DVD, performing live comedy, recording TV shows and fronting glam metal sensation “Boner Contention” Dave found time to play the role of Aquaman in Severe Comedy’s YouTube Parody series “The Justice Lease“.
The Justice Lease is a five episode YouTube series that shows Superman, Batman, Hulk and Aquaman in the most realistic fashion ever attempted – living in a sharehouse in metro-suburban Australia. The show is about real-life, dramatic parodies of these iconic characters and explores how having superpowers doesn’t do the dishes for you. Like everyone else, the four have demanding day-to-day obligations and complex relationships with those they live with. Plus they have to live up to their Hollywood on screen persona’s.
With the stress of the upcoming release of “Man of Steel”, Superman (Paul Ayre) feels he shouldn’t have to be relegated to the household chores. However, being less popular than Batman (Andrew Steel) after the highly successful Dark Knight trilogy, he’s not exactly someone everyone is clamouring to be saved by.
But it could be worse. He could be Aquaman (Dave Eastgate).
Having been exiled from Atlantis after it became a democracy, Aquaman left the sea and joined the Justice Lease in Australia. Unfortunately powers like “super fast swimming” and “talking to marine reptiles” are largely redundant on land and render him useless on the crime fighting front. As a result he is battling depression and self-worth issues. Batman has become his hero and his ultimate aim is to be an extra in the next batman movie…
Dave will be appearing in the newest comedy series to hit ABC ‘The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting‘
The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide To Knife Fighting, a surreal stroll into the creative minds of some of Australia’s most exciting and newest comedy writers and directors. The series aspires to take sketch comedy in a different direction. With longer-form scenes, less traditional material, and a surprising cast, it will be at times random, often ridiculous and occasionally surreal. Based on the experimental online comedy site of the same name, the series has attracted a formidable line-up of the country’s finest comedic and dramatic actors including Patrick Brammall (A Moody Christmas, East West 101), Phil Lloyd (Review with Myles Barlow, A Moody Christmas), Damon Herriman (Breaking Bad, Justified), Georgina Haig (Fringe, Underbelly), Darren Gilshenan (A Moody Christmas,Top of the Lake) and more.
The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting screens on ABC1 at 9 pm on Wednesday nights and on ABC2 at 9:30 pm on Thursday nights.
